Mission founder, Ewing
W. Mays, a double amputee, found very quickly the loneliness and
isolation
felt by those in rehabilitation hospitals. Soon after his adjustment to
civilian life, he started touring the U.S. visiting wounded GI's -
demonstrating
what could be done and accomplished walking on two artificial limbs.
Teams from Mays Mission go out several times per year,
visiting nursing
homes, rehabilitation facilities and hospitals through out the country.
Our hope is to bring hope and encouragement to residents and patients
in
these facilities. "Gift Paks" of stationery items (pads, cards,
envelopes,
stickers and a ball point pen) are assembled by people with
disabilities
at Mays Mission and distributed to each facility visited - free of
charge.
If you would like the Mays Mission team to consider
visiting a facility
in your area, please contact us at the address above. We will get back
with you as soon as possible!
