Dear Friend,

You may have noticed by now that I sign off on most of my letters to you with the phrase “God bless your kind heart.”

That sentiment truly suits how I feel about you and your support, which allows us to provide help, resources, and opportunities to people with disabilities. Not everyone will choose to take action to help others when it’s needed.

But your kind heart leads you to share your blessings

with those in need, and I thank God for you every day.

As a small token of gratitude for all you do and all you help make possible as a friend to Mays Mission for the Handicapped, I’ve enclosed some inspirational gifts for you: a new notepad and bookmarks.

I hope they remind you of how your kindhearted support makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives — people like Trinity Allen. I’ll tell you more about her in a moment, but first I want to ask that you do two things:

  1. Use the enclosed Gift Receipt Confirmation form to let me know your notepad and bookmarks reached you. And please send a gift of $15, $25, $50, or $75 — or any amount you are able — to help more individuals with disabilities.
  • Use your new items proudly, and help raise awareness of the needs of those with handicaps whenever the opportunity arises. It’s so important that the public understands the challenges our friends with disabilities face … and the changes that need to be made to make the world a friendlier place for them.

As you may know, one way you make a difference is through your support of our programs and services. This includes our On-the-Job Training program, in which we train individuals with disabilities in graphic arts, lettershop, bindery, assembly, printing, and data processing at our print shop.

That’s why I want to introduce you to Trinity Allen. Trinity is our newest employee — and she played a role in making the gifts I sent you with this letter!

Trinity suffers mental and physical health conditions that have kept her from doing things that come naturally to most of us. Severe anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, panic attacks, and other problems and symptoms make it difficult for her to go out in public and interact with people.

But that doesn’t mean Trinity is willing to let life pass her by. She craves independence. She wants to contribute to and be an active participant in society. And when she expressed an interest in working here at Mays Mission, I knew we could provide the environment she needed to feel safe and supported … thanks to you.

You allowed Trinity to join our team here, where we understand differences and disabilities … and focus on ability. Where we know how people are unfairly judged and dismissed, and strive to give everyone the opportunities they deserve.

Your support — your kindness — gave this smart, talented young woman the chance to be productive … to take small steps every day in overcoming challenges that have held her back for far too long. She’s gained confidence and a sense of purpose.

Please know that with each gift you give, a life is touched … and transformed.

 That’s why I pray you’ll consider giving a gift of $15, $25, $50, or $75 today

to offer others like Trinity hope for a better future.

Individuals with disabilities often face extraordinary challenges and barriers that can keep them from reaching their full potential. You can provide them with a chance to succeed and improve their quality of life.

Thank you again for supporting our job training program — as well as our other programs and services that help veterans, seniors, students, and children with disabilities.

God bless your kind and generous heart. I pray I hear from you soon.

                                                                        Sincerely,

Sherry Mays Niehaus

President

P.S. Enjoy your notepad and bookmarks, and use them proudly to raise awareness about disability discrimination! Please return your Gift Receipt Confirmation form promptly … and include the best donation you can to help more people like Trinity. Thank you again for all you make possible through your kindness!
