“Never Give Up. Always Believe in Yourself.” – Alec
At Mays Mission for the Handicapped, every success story is a testament to the power of compassion, opportunity, and unwavering belief in human potential. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Alec — our newest employee and a shining example of what happens when someone is finally given a chance.

Alec, 34, has a learning disability. Like so many others with disabilities, he has faced an uphill battle throughout his life — from childhood classrooms where teachers and peers didn’t know how to support him, to countless job applications that went unanswered. “They didn’t know how to deal with me,” Alec shared, recalling the pain of being misunderstood and mistreated.
But Alec never gave up. And because of generous supporters like you, he didn’t have to.
Thanks to your support of our On-the-job Training Program, Alec is gaining hands-on experience, building skills, and most importantly, regaining hope. He’s part of a workplace that sees his ability, not his disability — where he’s valued, respected, and empowered.
“I find working here to be calm and relaxing,” Alec told us. “It’s super therapeutic to me.” He’s not only learning a trade; he’s building confidence, growing spiritually, and gaining financial independence. Alec’s journey is a beautiful reminder of how one opportunity — just one — can transform a life.
This is the heart of what we do at Mays Mission. Through your donations, you help provide training, jobs, and dignity to individuals who’ve long been overlooked. You help us show the world that people with disabilities are capable, reliable, hardworking, and talented.
But there are still so many others like Alec waiting for a chance.
Will you help us continue this mission? Any amount you can give will open doors for someone who just needs to be seen — and believed in.
Your generosity not only supports job training but also helps children attend specially adapted summer camps, students with disabilities pursue higher education, injured veterans find support, and families access life-changing resources.
From Alec, his family, and all of us at Mays Mission — thank you. Your kindness changes lives.
With gratitude,
The Mays Mission Team
