Spotlight on Zach

At Mays Mission for the Handicapped, every donation you give does more than just support a program — it transforms a life. One of those lives is Zachary’s.

Zachary, known affectionately by many as just “Zach,” is a wonderful young man whose life has taken a hopeful new direction thanks to the support of generous people like you. Because of your kindness, Zach now holds a job and enjoys the independence he had long dreamed of — a goal that once seemed just out of reach.

Before finding Mays Mission, Zach faced a long and difficult road in his search for employment. Living with autism, ADHD, and processing delays, Zach has always had to work harder to navigate social interactions, focus on tasks, and communicate effectively. Unfortunately, these challenges led many potential employers to overlook his true potential — not seeing the intelligent, capable, and determined individual behind the diagnoses.

But Zach never gave up. He knew he had the ability and drive to be a dedicated employee if only given the chance. And thanks to your support, that chance came through our On-the-Job Training program.

Through this unique program, Mays Mission trains individuals with disabilities in a range of valuable skills in our production department. And here at Mays Mission, we don’t focus on what someone can’t do. We focus on what they can. We see ability where others see barriers. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to work, contribute, and find purpose — and Zach is living proof of the incredible impact of that belief.

Today, Zach has gained not just employment, but something far deeper: confidence, independence, and a renewed sense of self-worth. His journey is a testament to the power of persistence, the importance of compassion, and the life-changing effect of a single opportunity.

All of this was made possible because of people like you. Your support touches lives in extraordinary ways — helping people with disabilities realize their potential, achieve independence, and feel the dignity of meaningful work.

So from Zach, and from all of us at Mays Mission: thank you. You are not just supporting a mission — you are making dreams come true.
